There are at least three acts named Miriam. 1. Miriam was founded in Italy in 1998 by Daniela Bruno (vocals, bass), Carlo Bucciarelli (synthesizers, guitar) and Francesco Sordini (piano, keyboards).
The name MIRIAM has been chosen as a tribute to one of the band's favorite cult movies, “The Hunger” (Tony Scott, 1983), featuring David Bowie and Catherine Deneuve in the role of two metropolitan vampires. On the other hand, under the Roman Empire, this name used to mean something like “sea waterdrop”, which fits perfectly the band's tastes, for water themes and colors.
