MUMU is a Japanese math rock/avant-jazz/prog trio and nickname of drummer/composer Masahiro Uemura. Besides being a math rock musician, Mumu is an actual professional mathemetician -- a professor at Tokyo University -- and uses his skills to bring lab-coat and slide-rule complexity to his compositions, while jazz-style soloing rounds out the sound produced by the drums, keyboards, and trombone.
