Tom Kaulitz, lead guitarist of Tokio Hotel, was born on September 1st, 1989 in Leipzig, Germany to Jörg and Simone Kaulitz. He is ten minutes older than his twin brother, Bill. When Tom was seven, his parents separated. His mother married Gordon Trümper soon after the divorce, and he and his brother lived with them. Gordon played a big part in the twins decision to pursue music, because he was in a band of his own called Fatun. He began playing guitar at the age of seven, and when he was nine he and his brother started performing.
