A composer, musicologist, pianist and pedagogue.The German-American artist, was initially trained in Germany, studied after emigration to the U.S., where she worked until the day she died as a piano teacher and composer.
Johanna Beyer was a composer who defies all too solid description. The musicologist Larry Polansky she believes is a composer of high rank. They have belonged to the first American composers to experiment with electronic music and written for percussion ensemble.
