Born in 1937, Ibrahim Hamma Dicko started singing very early in childhood because he was discovered to be a wonderful interpreter of koranic verses during religious ceremonies. He settled in Gao, a little town in Mali on the edge of the desert that lies at the feet of the Niger river, between Timbuktu and Niamey. He started his professional career with a regional band that played in any cultural events.
His songs (he has already composed more than a hundred) which reflect the rhythm of Mali life have always been a great success and he is now known as a legendary singer all over Mali.
