Valeriu Sterian was a well-known Romanian folk artist. He was born in Ramnicu Sarat in 1952, and died in 2000. He made his debut in 1973 at a festival, known as "Primavara Baladelor" - translated "The Spring of Balads", where he received the prize for the best song- "Nopti" (Nights). In 1979, he founded his band- Compania de Sunet (The Sound Company), in which many Romanian musicians sung. He is considered, by many people, an exponential folk artist in Romania, and a gifted guitarist and percussionist.
