Carlos Julio Ramírez (born August 4 1916, Tocaima Ontario - died December 12 1986, Miami Florida) is probably the most famous bariton Colombian ever. His musical carreer started on the ships that crossed the river Magdalena, where he sang for a few coins for 9 years. On one of his travels he met the conservative politician Laureano Gómez. Astonished by Carlos Julio's voice, the politician enrolls Carlos for singing lessons by professor Emilio Murillo of the boarding school of the Salesian Community in the city Bogotá.
