The biography of Surganova & Orchestra (Сурганова и Оркестр) begins in December 2002, when one of the founders of Night Snipers (Ночные Снайперы) Svetlana Surganova (Светлана Сурганова) left the group, causing a great sensation in the press. In less than a year Svetlana rose very rapidly: she formed her own group of professional musicians from St. Petersburg, composed, recorded and released the debut album Can It Not Be Me (Неужели не я) in 2003. Some 100,000 copies were sold officially.
