Canadian songwriter Andrea Simms-Karp was born in Timmins, Ontario, but has called Ottawa her home since she was three years old. She started singing around the same time she started walking, and picked up a guitar around the same time she started flunking high school math. Apparently this is a total coincidence. She bought a banjo two years ago and hasn't put it down since. Andrea has played with bands Alicide and The Vanity Press, and won the Beth Ferguson Award for upcoming songwriter in 2003. She released her long-awaited solo album, Sleeper, in the fall of 2007.
