YUKIE NAGAI was born in Tokyo and started playing the piano at the age of six. Her academic piano studies took place in her home city during the years 1964-73. She completed her studies with Hans Leygraf at the Salzburg Mozarteum and with Wilhelm Kempff at his Beethoven courses at positano.
An important step in her artistic career was winning a prize at the Geneva International Piano Competition in 1977 together with a special prize for the best Debussy interpretation.
