Czech baritone Richard Haan was born in Košice, Czech Republic, on March 18, 1949. A music teacher and soloist at the Prague State Opera, Haan is also the recipient of the 2010 Thalia Award in the opera category. He is a long-distance swimmer who has successfully swum the English Channel.
