Veronika Povilionienė known in English speaking countries as Veronika Povilioniene, is a traditionalist Lithuanian singer one of the country's most celebrated musicians and folk music historians.
Born in 1946, she studied at Vilnius University, and is married to a former political prisoner Vidmantas Povilionis, with whom she has 3 children. As a participant and leader of numerous folklore concerts and expeditions, she performs with her hair wrapped in the traditional white wimple head wrap and promotes her heritage and ethnograpic pursuits in many most unexpected ways.
