Although typically associated with the burgeoning stoner rock community of the late '90s, New Jersey's Lord Sterling display deeper roots in late-'60s garage and Detroit rock sounds than the metal and classic rock prevalent among most stoner bands. Formed in 1995 by Robert Ryan (vocals, electric sitar, harmonium, percussion), Mike Schweigert (guitar, Moog, percussion), and Jason Hoffman (bass), the group performed locally and worked on demos before recruiting drummer Jason Silverio and recording their 1998 debut Your Ghost Will Walk for independent Chainsaw Safety Records.
