Daja's love affair with music began at a very young age. Her main inspiration was her mother, who then, was an active member in several local music groups. Daja's favorite pastime as a child was to tag along to her mother's group rehearsals. It was those moments that birthed the passion of her life. Daja spent the rest of her childhood honing her crafts such singing, dancing and writing. In 2008, Daja wrote a song for her first mixtape project entitled "Mean Walk". Though she knew that the song was a hit in its production stages, she felt that it needed something else to be complete.
